Mirage is a 100 MHz R4600 SGI Indy PC with 32 MBytes of memory, 1.5 Gbytes of disk, 24-bit XL graphics, 17-inch color monitor, plus Indy Video and Cosmo Compress boards. It is linked to the Ames Laboratory backbone network via a wireless Ethernet bridge from KarlNet, which actually lives in the closet in my room. We're rather proud of our antenna, which is even bigger than our old one! The bridge uses 915 MHz spread spectrum technology and provides a bandwidth of 2 Mbps. Garden variety FTP's typically get 100+ KiloBytes/sec over the bridge.
